Hi guys kloe here ....
As next week my blog turns a year old crazy it feels like only yesterday I decided to follow a dream of mine and take the plunge and I thought what better way to lead up to my anniversary then to give some advice to begging bloggers ,Some of the following advice I wish I’d known before I started my blog , I hope this helps enjoy x
PLAN YOUR POSTS
At first I didn’t really plan out posts i kind of just wrote done what came to mind and then one day I was reading a blog I can’t remember who by but they said that they bought a diary a planned out there posts so at the end of last year I finally bought my diary as before it was too early , I feel more organised and I do feel my content is better now that I’m not lost about what I’m going to write about and whilst were talking about content ,brainstorm content then write it into your diary or have a list of ideas in case you run out of content .
FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY
Very few articles I could find when I wanted to start my blog said to find / have *Makes Air Quote * niche and to write about things you know and I’d say it really depends on the person writing the blog post because to be honest I don’t really have niche which is good in a way because I’m not limited to writing about just one thing but that being said if say your passionate about make up or something like that don’t be afraid to stick with that
I First started on Blogger and at the time it felt like the best choice but after a couple of months after trying to have the design I wanted for my blog I felt blogger was limiting what I could do and I had considered downloading a template for my blog but after doing my research if something happened to my blog I wouldn’t be able to retrieve my blog post. I had considered wordpress before Mariah suggested weebly and there is so much you can do for free plus you can upgrade which is also , what I wanted to say is before you set up your blog choose what platform you want to use and like myself if you want to be self hosted or to use something like blogger because before you write as many posts as I did because I had to repost all the post I’d written on Blogger and post them again on weebly as there is no way to transfer them which was stressful , so beginner bloggers carefully consider this as it’s the most critical part of your blog .
DON'T BE AFRAID TO BE PERSONAL
Within in reason don’t share anything that you don’t feel comfortable with sharing , that being said I decided to get personal with My epilepsy and hearing aid posts because I hoped that someone would be able to relate to what I’d went through and would help them through this cloud of fog they are going through and also to show that even when you don’t feel strong enough to get through it you can . On a any post I feel that what’s helped me be honest is writing like your talking to one person is another way you be personal, I love to add the funny jokes in too which is always fun !
At the beginning I had used a few pictures from Mr Google but after a very lovely reader commented go tell to me that you can get in trouble for using other peoples pictures you can still use them but you have to have them credits and after that I changed the pictures to my own , and I’m glad I did because I love using my own pictures and in love photography which is super fun , and if your not great at photography that’s to the end of the world because the more you do it the better you get (I'm here if you want to talk ) at it , when you look back at your photography journey you will be surprised like me about how far you’ve come , don’t stress about your pictures not being like others bloggers because they’ve probably been doing it for longer but I’m not gonna lie that they probably felt the same when they first started.
DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP
Don't be afraid to ask the blogger community for help and tips and tricks that they might have ,it doesn’t make you a bad blogger for doing it , after a fair months of blogging I asked a blogger of what they thought of my blog and to give me some feedback , it was really helpful because I changed things about my blog that I might not have thought about before and i asked Matthew from Matthewliamrice.com which was really lovely and really nice of him make sure to check out his blog,I asked Matthew if he had some advice he’s wish he’d known before he started blogging here it is and also some advice for beginner bloggers
“No probs - I used to work in social media marketing so I'm used to people asking questions like this. I guess for the question, you really need to decide what you're going to talk about and stick at it, niche areas are good but not for everyone (e.g. Plus size blogging)Also don't be scared to put yourself out there and make a Facebook page, tweet, Instagram stories, Pinterest etc etc. The more the betting just keep your branding and messaging the same. (Consistency is key with branding)Finally. I started blogging 2/3 years ago and didn't understand about links, and key words (e.g. Using bomber jackets more than once and in the first paragraph of your blog post - if that's what the post is about - to get better rankings)”
DON’T POST JUST ANYTHING
I probably going sound like a proper hypocrite but at the time I thought my post were good but looking back at them now makes me cringe but they part of my blogging journey and yours will be too it makes you part of who you are , If you write a post and you love it but your not sure then like me don’t post it and leave it a few months add bits in and then when you feel happy with it then post it then this is something i wish I’d known but it’s all part of learning right .
I hope you guys have enjoyed this post and if your about to start your blog or have a blog already then I hope this answers some of your questions feel free to message me your questions either in the comments below on social media?
Until next time happy reading
